Motion Design Work

Geometric Dance Party

I animated and designed this video in After Effects Kickstart, a course with School of Motion. The objective was to explore design principles and elements, making simple shapes dance to a track of our choosing. I used a mood board to guide the design and animation process.

The physicality of moving geometric shapes reminded me of the 90s. I also liked the idea of telling the story of 2 circles. The 90s provided a bright color palette, and I built a board of some possible directions to head into when following 2 circles through the story. Could it be a yo-yo? A hula hoop? A cassette tape?

Kinetic Typography — Epic Lyric Smackdown

I animated and designed this video in After Effects Kickstart, a course with School of Motion. We were given the music track, and worked with timing the lyrics to be on legible on-screen and to capture the viewer’s attention in a fun way. The limitations were to use no more than 5 colors, and 1 or 2 typefaces.

Animation Study: Hamster Wheel

I had designed graphics for a Whole Foods Market event called Love Your Pet event, and this hamster inspired some work in Adobe Flash to see if I could get this little guy moving as a .gif file.
